Oh, Worship the Lord

By Barbara J. Scott
God wants to establish an intimate relationship with human creation. He made us in His image for that purpose. He made us with all of His goodness in us and a love for Him. But all that changed in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned against God. Now we must seek Him to get back into that right relationship with Him.
Oh, Worship the Lord

"O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; fear before Him, all the earth." Psalm 96:9. When God gave the Commandments to Moses, the first one He gave was, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:3.  He made us to worship and praise Him, to give Him glory and honor. By an act of our will, we must choose to turn to God, repent of our sins, and accept the price that was paid on Calvary for our redemption: then we can fully worship and praise Him. We will be able to tell of His greatness and love for all mankind. "Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His Name; make known among the nations what He has done." Psalm 105:1 NIV.

Jesus taught that we must love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37). When we love Him with our total being, we will have no problem worshiping Him.  God is a jealous God and He will not stand for us to worship anyone or anything other than He.  "How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like You, and there is no God but You, as we have heard with our own ears." 2 Samuel 7:22 NIV. People worship many gods in this world, but there is only ONE TRUE GOD, the LORD God Jehovah, Maker of heaven and earth.  And you know what? It doesn't matter who believes it or not, that doesn't make it any less true. God always has been and always will be. He is from everlasting to everlasting, and worthy of all worship and praise. "For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen." Romans 11:36. NIV. "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24 ESV. We must worship Him with all of our innermost being, nothing half-hearted; because God knows what is in our hearts, He made us and His Spirit is in us; we can't fool Him.

God loves us unconditionally, He cares for us and takes care of us; there is nothing He would not do for His children; and He is alive for evermore. Why would we worship something or someone who can do nothing for us, not even express their love for us; cannot speak, see or hear, and are not even alive.? Why would we not want to worship God and God alone? "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!" Psalm 95:6.
