Release Your Potential

By Barbara J. Scott
Fear will hold you back and keep you from being all that God wants you to be. People in your life may have told you that you will never be able to accomplish your dream. They instilled doubt in your mind about yourself and who you are, what you can do or cannot do. But when we stop listening to people and listen to what God has to say about us, we will be able to release our potential and be all that we are meant to be in this life, to the glory of God.
Release Your Potential

Those of you who have children, how many of you have gazed at that little gift from God and have spoken over their life, that which you see them to be in the future? And as they begin to grow, you cultivate that potential that you see, leading them in the right direction to fulfill that destiny. Well, God has a potential in each one of us that He has placed in us to be used for His glory. There is so much in us, that we haven't even tapped into the surface. We expose only the tip of the iceberg. But God knows what is on the inside, what He has placed there, and for some reason or many reasons we fail to let that potential be released in our life. We are destined for greatness; we are the children of God and He has great plans for us. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV.

He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (see 2 Timothy 1:7). When we step out on faith, trusting that God is holding our hand, holding us up; we can stand on His Word that says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me." Philippians 4:13.

Oh yes, you have the potential to scale that six-foot wall and slay any giant; you can shout until the walls come crumbling down. "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD." Isaiah 54:17. It's in you, it's in me. "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1. "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31.

Step out into the unknown, come out of your comfort zone. Get out of the ship and walk on the water. Use what is in your hand – stretch out your rod of faith, see the waters part and walk over on dry ground. Remember, you are never walking alone. God is right there with you guiding every step of the way. You don't have to be afraid of failing because there is no failure in God. "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye." Psalm 32:8. Release your potential.
