Resurrection Power

By Barbara J. Scott
In order to have Resurrection Power we have to walk in HUMILITY. Jesus walked in humility throughout His earthly life. Humbleness is not an option, it is essential if we want to walk with God. Humility is not weakness, it is strength and power under control, with the Holy Ghost in control.
Resurrection Power

We can read the Word of God, memorize it and have it in our head, knowing it backwards and forwards. But if we do not apply it to our lives it really means nothing. And, we cannot apply it to our lives if we do not have it in our heart. Jesus is the Word made flesh and He has to become flesh in us. After the Resurrection, Jesus said that all power in heaven and earth had been given to Him. There is not greater power on earth or in heaven, Jesus is All!

In order to have Resurrection Power we have to walk in HUMILITY. Jesus walked in humility throughout His earthly life. Humbleness is not an option, it is essential if we want to walk with God. Humility is not weakness, it is strength and power under control, with the Holy Ghost in control. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." Acts 1:8. Backing down from a fight doesn't mean that you are a "fraidy cat", and scared. Jesus taught to be a peacemaker. If we believe that we are always right and can't admit that we fail and make mistakes, we are walking in pride. God promises to exalt the humble, not the proud (James 4:10). Identifying with Jesus, no matter what may be the reaction of others, demands a dying to self and giving up our own "rights". Actually, we lost our rights in the Garden of Eden. Paul says, "I die daily". (1 Corinthians 15:31). We have to beat down that "old man" that tries to rise up in us, because we have been risen to a new life in Christ Jesus. "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" Micah 6:8. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:" 1 Peter 5:6.

The Resurrection life of Jesus dictates that we walk in OBEDIENCE. Jesus took on Himself the form of a servant, He said He came to serve. He was obedient unto the death on the cross. He never made Himself to be equal with God. (Philippians 2:5-11). Whatever we have to go through in this life will never match what Jesus suffered for us, and remember, He did no wrong. He said as He was in this world so shall we be. We will have haters and enemies, but we must remain faithful to Jesus Christ, in spite of it all. When we are obedient to the Lord Jesus Chris, He gives us power over all the powers of the enemy. We can tear down the devil's strongholds and put him in his place. We can knock down every wall that is built up to keep men from finding Him. But we have to do this first in ourselves and then we can reach others who walk in disobedience. We have to practice what we peach and teach!

The Resurrection life of Jesus shows itself in HOLINESS. Jesus now has the authority to give and share the life of God to and with us. And once the Holy Spirit comes in, our whole life changes; we now live our lives in the light of Jesus' life. All comparisons are made according to God 's standard and not man's. The Holy Spirit does in us all that Jesus died to make us be. "It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." Zechariah 4:6." We cannot make ourselves Holy but we can yield to the Holy Spirit and He gets the work done. It's an inside job which shows up on the outside. We have this "treasure in earthen vessels", and God knows our frailties. Be He is never going to tell us to do something we cannot do without enabling us by His power to do it. "And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by Faith: That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.;" Philippians 3:9-10.
