The Light of The World Is Jesus

By Barbara J. Scott
Think of a room with gross darkness, no light shining anywhere. Then someone comes in and lights a match, a tiny match. That darkness has to give way to the light of that match. If this could happen with a very small match, how much more can the Light of Jesus push back the darkness in our lives.
The Light of The World Is Jesus

Jesus came into a world full of darkness, dark with rampant sin and no regard for Almighty God.  He came to be a Light in our darkness.  "In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the Light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." John 1:4-5.  Think of a room with gross darkness, no light shining anywhere.  Then someone comes in and lights a match, a tiny match.  That darkness has to give way to the light of that match.  If this could happen with a very small match, how much more can the Light of Jesus push back the darkness in our lives.  The darkness in that room had to acknowledge that the light had come, and so we must acknowledge that Jesus, the Light of the world has come. He wants to shine in our lives with His love, joy and peace. In Him is no darkness at all, He is the true Light, which lighteth every man (John 1:9).  Jesus says whoever follows Him will never again walk in darkness, He gives new life: life to the blind, the lame, the deaf, the sinner who He died for.  When we obey Him and His way, He, the Sun of Righteousness shines in our lives and ultimately lives His life through us.

If only the world would turn to Jesus and receive the finished work on Calvary, what a change it would be in each of our lives. The Word of God says that Jesus is our Light and our Salvation and that we don't have to fear anyone or anything; He is the strength of our life.  There is no one greater than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Isn't it wonderful to know that all we have to do is trust Him and know that His Word is true?  He is everything we need in life. Let Jesus light up your life.  Will you let Him in to be the everlasting light (Isaiah 60:19), the Light that was sent to lighten the Gentiles? (Luke 2:32). "For You are the fountain of life, the light by which we see." Psalm 36:9.
