Transformed By God

By Barbara J. Scott
We never know how people are watching us and are being blessed because they see the love of God in us. When we live our life according to the will of God, others are blessed. Ruth positioned herself for transformation. She meets Boaz, a rich relative of Naomi's deceased husband, when they return to Bethlehem; and finds favor in his sight.
Transformed By God

There was a famine in Bethlehem (the House of Bread) so Naomi and her family moved to Moab.  Now Naomi is a widow and both her sons have died.  Their wives are left with Naomi and she encouraged them to go home to their family.  Ruth wants to stay with Naomi and she is determined to do so.  "But Ruth replied, "Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. I will go wherever you go and live where you live.  Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.  I will die where you die and will be buried there.  May the LORD punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us." (Ruth 1:16-17).  Apparently, Ruth is influenced by the life Naomi lives and she wants to follow her. He allows her to glean in his field as much as she wants to and as much as she needs to; and now Naomi is being blessed by Ruth.  When Naomi discovered that Ruth was gleaning in Boaz's field, she had a plan that would position Ruth for transformation.  Ruth was humble and willing to do exactly as Naomi instructed.  When we walk in the humility of Jesus, God will bless us abundantly.

Naomi told Ruth to wait until Boaz was asleep and then to uncover his feet and lay at his feet.  When he awakened and discovered Ruth at his feet, she asked him to cover her with his skirt.  Boaz was pleased that Ruth had chosen him to be her cover.  Placing his skirt over her indicated that he agreed to take responsibility for her; he was agreeing to marry her.  Ruth was positioning herself for transformation.  Before the foundation of the world, God had this plan for Ruth.  She had no idea that she would set in motion a chain of events that would blow her mind.  First, she married a wealthy farmer in Bethlehem.  Second, she became the mother of Obed, the father of Jesse; and Jesse was the father of David, who became king of Israel, and ancestor to the King of kings, Jesus the Savior of the world.  Ruth positioned herself in Moab for transformation, by marrying Naomi's son.  She went from rags to riches.  She went from being a gentile outcast to being an ancestor of Jesus, Emmanuel.

We can position ourselves for transformation and watch God work miracles in our lives.  Watch your latter days be the best days of your life.  You will receive blessings you can't imagine.  Ruth's life began to change when she decided to serve Jehovah God.  It starts when you put Christ first in your life.  "But seek ye first, the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)  "Not my will, but Thy will be done." (Luke 22:42b) "..Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans 12:1-2)

Ruth was transformed by the renewing of her mind.  She didn't want to go back to her old way of life, worshiping idol gods; she vowed to serve Naomi's God.  Transformation starts when you stop trying to do your own thing.  If I've been doing the same thing for the last 15 years and it doesn't work, why would I want to keep doing that same thing the same way?  Transformation starts when you bow before the King and truly humble yourself.  It starts when you say, "Yes, Lord." It starts when you put Christ in His rightful place in your life.  We need to change our theme song.  We have been singing the wrong song.  We need to start singing, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord! Have Thine Own way. Thou art the Potter, I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will, while I am waiting, yielded and still."  When we have a listening ear to the Holy Spirit and are determined to follow the leading of the Lord; then we have positioned ourselves to receive the blessings from the "windows of heaven"; blessings we don't have room enough to receive.  Put yourself in position.. and watch the transformation take place.
