Choose to Forgive

Remember, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God. We have the power to pull down the strongholds of unforgiveness and wanting an eye for an eye. It's not even about us and our rights; we have no rights; our rights were given up in the Garden of Eden. It's all about Jesus. The enemy isn't fighting against us, he is fighting against Jesus in us...
"Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, saith the LORD." Jesus taught us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate and despitefully use us. We must remember that we are not fighting flesh and blood but principalities and powers of darkness, and we are fighting from the winning side. When we forgive those who trespass against us we are growing in character and becoming more like Jesus. We must be willing to be humble: no one will ever do to us what was done to Jesus, and He chose to say nothing and do nothing. Are we greater than He? Learn from Him! "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31b). The Word of God teaches that, as much as is possible we are to live in peace with all men. The Holy Ghost Who is in us is going to help us glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by manifesting His forgiving Spirit. Just think about it; if Jesus had done "an eye for an eye", where would we be today? When He hung dying on the Cross His first words were, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34) Out of seven utterances from the Cross, that was the first one, Forgiveness. We must be quick to forgive instead of quick to retaliate, in the same way that Jesus is quick to forgive us. The entire life of a disciple of Christ's is based on forgiveness, it is the hallmark of the Christian life. We cannot say that we are followers of Jesus and not be willing to forgive as He has forgiven us.

It's not even about us and our rights; we have no rights; our rights were given up in the Garden of Eden. It's all about Jesus. The enemy isn't fighting against us, he is fighting against Jesus in us: it's a battle of Good against evil and we must realize that "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4). So, let God be God and stop trying to play God in the matter of forgiveness. No eye for an eye; no vengeance and taking matters into our own hands; but manifesting the Fruit of the Spirit which is love, which forgives as Jesus has forgiven us.

I was in a church service one time when there was a "prophet" praying for the people. After a time, he called for an offering and had his mind totally on the offering instead of the people coming for prayer. One man went for prayer while the offering was being taken and the "prophet" told the man to come back to another service and then he would pray for him.

When we focus on money and things – possessions, we put them before God and forget about Him. Jesus said it is hard for a rich man to enter into heaven. Why is this so? Because he feels he has all he needs and doesn't need God, the One who has the whole world in His hands. A rich man depends on his riches and possessions to gain whatever happiness he needs in life: not realizing that the mammon is temporal and will pass away.

In this day and time men need encouragement like never before. They need to know that they are loved and very much need in this world. They also need Godly wisdom and understanding of the ways of the kingdom of God. Jesus is our supreme example in how to live as holy men of God. He prayed often to the Father, putting His earthly life completely in God's hands.
