Touching Jesus With A Purpose

By Barbara J. Scott
Do we believe everything like that? Do we have that kind of faith – to believe what God has said? Faith to believe what we know about Him? What do you know about Jesus? What has He done in your life? What has He said to you? Do you believe it? Or do you believe that it is a waste of time to believe what you do not see?
Touching Jesus With A Purpose

Jesus was on His way to heal a little girl, Jairus' daughter, when He had an encounter with a woman looking for a miracle! The Word says that, "As soon as she came up behind Jesus and barely touched His clothes, her bleeding stopped."  Jesus said to the woman, "You are now well because of your faith.  Many God give you peace!" (Luke 8:43-44).  Most of us may be familiar with the story of the woman who had been suffering with pain and bleeding for 12 years. She had spent all of her money on doctors, and had only gotten worse over the years.  I am sure she had heard about Jesus and His healing miracles, and purposed in her heart that if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she knew that she would be made well.  Wherever Jesus went, there was a crowd around Him, and He had gotten caught up in this crowd while on His way to Jairus' home.  The woman was also in that crowd, with the determination to get close enough to Jesus to touch His robe.  According to the Jewish Law, she was not even supposed to be in public with an issue of blood, much more was it forbidden that she should touch a Rabbi!  But she had a purpose!!!  She was pressing towards her miracle!!!  She had to receive her miracle, which meant she believed Jesus; she believed everything she knew about Him, everything she ever heard Him say.

This woman had no doubt in her mind that she was going to be healed when she touched Jesus' garment.  She didn't say, "Maybe I will be healed." She said, "If I could just touch the hem of His garment, I know I will me made whole again."  And instantly, as soon as she touched Him, she stopped bleeding! She was healed after 12 years of going to doctors, with no results.  Jesus said, "Who touch Me!"  And His disciples said, "With all this crowd, and You're asking, 'Who touched Me?'  Jesus said virtue had gone out of Him. This woman had received her miracle!  Jesus told her that her faith had made her whole.  That's the kind of faith that moves the heart of God.  When we fast and pray with a purpose, with the determination to touch Jesus, He says, "Ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you."  God just wants to know that we know Him and that we know that He is able to do what we ask of Him, and that we trust Him to do it.  This woman had heard of Jesus and the great and mighty works He was doing among the people.  That's all she needed to know!  Her reasoning was that if He did it for others, I know He'll do it for me.  There was no doubt at all; she had great faith and she activated her faith by taking the risk of condemnation by touching Jesus.

Are you willing to take the risk, lay your life on the line and trust God with all your heart?  What is it you want Him to do for you?  What miracle do you need Him to perform in your life or for someone you are praying?  I'm sure many of us have seen God move in our life and the life of others when we touched Jesus, expecting a miracle. We have petitions on the altar, spoken and unspoken, that we are fasting and praying for, expecting the manifestation of the move of God on our behalf; expecting to see the miracle of God in our situation.  We can't afford to waiver or doubt in our faith.  We can't let people and things get in our way.  We have to be determined just as that woman with the issue of blood.  We have issues in our lives that only Jesus can handle.  We know Who Jesus is and we have seen Him work! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He never changes.  What He has done in the past, He will do today! Thought it tarry, wait for it; it will surely come: be patient (in the waiting room).  No matter what it looks like, keep claiming your miracle.  What God has for us is for us and nobody can take it away!  Reach p and touch the hem of Jesus' garment with a purpose, decreeing and declaring that God is going to work in your situation for your good and for His glory! Hallelujah!

Keep saying what God has already said.  He said that if we "trust Him, we will never miss out on any good thing".  He is always working for the good of those who love Him because we are the ones He has chosen for His purpose.  "Trust the Lord and follow Him. He will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4).  If we learn to say what God says, and lean not on our own understanding, God will honor our faith and give us what we desire, according to His will.  Determine to push through the crowd of doubt, fear, defeat and worry, and looking at the circumstances instead of at Jesus, the Problem Solver.  Touch Jesus with a purpose and expect to be healed in every area of your life: spiritually, physically, mentally, and financially.  According to your faith be it unto you.  Receive your miracle blessing!
