"Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of His Name: make His praise glorious. Say unto God, How terrible art Thou in Thy works! Through the greatness of Thy power shall Thine enemies submit themselves unto Thee. All the earth shall worship Thee, and shall sing unto Thee; they shall sing to Thy Name. Selah." Psalm 66:1-4.
Have you ever awakened in the morning with a song singing in your spirit? The Lord has given you a song in the night season and you wake up with that song singing in your very soul. God has given you victory while you were asleep, He has delivered you from something and given you a song in the "night season". Because He never slumbers nor sleeps, He is constantly working in us while we don't even know it. David was constantly singing songs to the Lord. When he was being pursued by King Saul, or by his son, Absalom, he would cry out unto the Lord, asking God to deliver him from His enemies. He said, "Lord, they are trying to eat up my soul, do something, Lord, get them off my trail. They gather themselves together against me; they laugh at me, they want to see me fall. How long, Lord, are Your going to let this go on?" And then David would say, "I will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praises unto our God." God wants to put a song in your heart. He has a song for every season. When you have been disappointed and let down by someone you thought you could trust, God will give you this song: "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' Blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' Name. On Christ the solid Rock, I stand – all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand."
Sometimes you may be in a knock-down, drag out battle with the enemy; you are fighting for the soul of your husband, your children have gone astray; and it seems like you are losing the battle. Then you read in the Word of God, "(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"; ..Then you hear the song singing in your soul, "A mighty Fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. …And tho this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph thru us. The prince of darkness grim, We tremble not for him – His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him." And that Word is, JESUS! At the Name of Jesus, devils fear and fly. That is our weapon against the enemy. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is entwined in the songs that we sing. That's why when we hear anointed singing it stirs our very soul. So, sing your songs unto the Lord, He wants to hear them. We sound like angel voices to Him. Paul told the church in Colosse to, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16.
