Who Loves Ya', Baby?

By Barbara J. Scott
Do you remember the old television police series, "Kojak", with Telly Savalas as the bald, lollipop sucking, tough guy detective? Always in each drama he would end up say, "Who loves ya', Baby?" If you were asked that question today, what would be your answer.
Who Loves Ya', Baby?

Do you remember the old television police series, "Kojak", with Telly Savalas as the bald, lollipop sucking, tough guy detective? Always in each drama he would end up say, "Who loves ya', Baby?" If you were asked that question today, what would be your answer.  I think I would start singing the song that I learned in my early life and taught my children: "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me; yes, Jesus loves me; yes, Jesus loves me: for the Bible tells me so."

God our Father has made it so clear in His Word that He loves us unconditionally.  We are His children and He will always desire the best for us; it is His desire to give us the Kingdom. Every day He has new mercies waiting for us, to demonstrate His love through us. God has said, "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great ad mighty things, which thou knowest not."  Jeremiah 33:3. Oh, yes, He loves you and me, He gave His life for us.  He was willing to take off His rob of glory and put on the garment of human flesh, to live, suffer, and die a death that we should have died because of our sin. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13. How many friends do you have that will be willing to lay down their lives for you?  True love demonstrates itself in action.  You know the old adage, "Action speaks louder than words."  There is great truth in that.  Jesus is love, personified; if we want to know what love looks like, just look at Jesus.  In all His ways and actions, He gave us the example of love.  If you ever feel unloved, just reach out to Jesus.  He is always waiting with outstretched arms to receive you.  He doesn't love us because we are loving and kind, always looking good, smelling good, sounding good.  Jesus said there is none good but one, and that is God.  He loves the unlovable, the angry, downtrodden, the stinking, the dirty; the one that no one else would dares to love.  There is nothing we can say or do to make the Father love us, and nothing we can say or do that will make Him stop loving us.  He loves us because that is Who He is.  He is God and God is love. ("He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love." I John 4:8.)  And now you know.  "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, not life, no angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Romans 8:37-39.
