My great grandmother, Jane West Davis, a slave until she was 5 years old, used to tell me as a child growing up to let my conscience be my guide. I didn't understand until I became a Christian what she meant: now it makes sense. You see, our conscience now being cleansed by the Blood of Jesus, is made to help us understand the difference between right and wrong.
Our conscience is like a radar system meant to send warnings when a behavior or a decision might be harmful to us. Everyone of us has had such warnings throughout our lives. This is what makes it possible for us to be able to recognize between what's right and what's wrong, especially when it is applied to our own life.
Generosity is usually a term we apply to people, but have you ever considered how generous the Lord is towards us? Think about it; He made the earth and all it contains for us. He made the sun to give us light and to grow our food; He sends the rain to water the earth and for us to drink.
We cannot do God's work without abiding in Jesus; it is unacceptable. Jesus says we must obey His Word, keep His commandments. We can do more if we live in Him and allow Him to live in us. We can do so much more than we ever dreamed we could do.
We wonder why the apostolic miracles are not present in our congregations today as in the days of old. We don't see the lame coming in and laying down their crutches and walkers and getting out of wheelchairs. Why is that? What is the difference in our churches today?
Do you consider yourself beautiful? God made each of us in His image and He made all of us beautiful! But that beauty can be overshadowed by sin in our lives and things we need to get rid of. Once we do that the world can see the beauty of Jesus that is in us.
Do you know that the angels in heaven are always singing and rejoicing, praising God? They are always joyful so they sing praises to the Lord and they worship Him with their songs. What is your favorite song? A song that you always find yourself singing and don't even realize that you are singing.
Have you ever awaken in the morning with a song singing in your spirit? The Lord has given you a song in the night season and you wake up with that song singing in your very soul. God has given you victory while you were asleep, He has delivered you from something and given you a song in the "night season"
The Word of God tells us over and over again that we are to be thankful in every circumstance in our lives whether we feel it is a blessing or no: because no matter what happens, God is in it working on our behalf. He knows what is best for us and is always, always working it out for our good and for His glory.
When you look at Facebook you see that some people have hundreds of friends, or so it seems. Just how do you define friend and how can one person have so many? The dictionary defines "friend" as someone with whom you have a bond with who is not a relative or sexual partner.
